Nikon Photo Booth: What Works with Snap360 Today and What Is Coming

Newlyweds walking out between guests holding sparklers at a night wedding

Snap360 does not work with Nikon cameras on the iPad today: the photo booth camera connection is built for Canon EOS DSLR and mirrorless cameras. A Nikon connection is in development for the Windows version, which is coming soon. If you shoot Nikon, write to us before you sign up and we will tell you what you can do with your gear.

We say it plainly because plenty of wedding and event photographers shoot Nikon, and it is better to know before your first event than on a Saturday night. What you can do with Snap360 today, whatever camera you own, is 360 video on a spinner platform, recorded with a phone or a tablet.

Quick Summary

  • On the iPad: Nikon cameras are not supported today.
  • On Windows: a Nikon connection is in development, with no set date.
  • For DSLR photos today: a Canon EOS by cable on the iPad.
  • For 360 video: it does not depend on the camera, it works with a phone, a tablet or a GoPro.
  • Before you sign up: write to us with your Nikon model.

Nikon: A Short History and Cameras for Events

Nikon was founded in Tokyo in 1917 as Nippon Kogaku and became Nikon Corporation in 1988. Its Nikon F SLR, from 1959, shaped professional photography for decades, and in 2018 it introduced the Z mount with the Z 7, its first full-frame mirrorless camera.

At weddings and events you mostly see two families:

  • Z mirrorless: Nikon's current lineup, with full-frame (FX) and DX-format bodies.
  • D series DSLRs: the F-mount bodies many photographers still use at events.

How to Combine Your Nikon and Snap360 in an Event Business

Until the Nikon connection arrives, this is how you can organize the work if your gear is Nikon:

  1. 360 video from today. The platform records with a phone or a tablet and Snap360 edits the video with the event music and overlay; your Nikon is not involved.
  2. Photo booth with a Canon. If you want DSLR photos in an iPad booth, today you need a Canon EOS connected by cable.
  3. Your Nikon, for the coverage. The camera stays your photographer's tool and the photo booth runs on its own.
  4. Join the Windows version list. That is where the Nikon connection is being developed.

Which Cameras Work on the iPad Today

Today the iPad photo booth shoots with a Canon EOS DSLR or mirrorless camera, connected by cable and with compatibility to be checked for your model. Fujifilm is in the same spot as Nikon, as explained in Fujifilm photo booth. And if you plan to print, see the DNP photo booth printer.

Not on the iPad today: the photo booth camera connection is Canon EOS by cable. A Nikon connection is in development for the Windows version, which is coming soon. If you shoot Nikon, write to us before you sign up and we will tell you what you can do with your gear.

When Is Nikon Coming to Snap360?

SNAPPHOTO for Windows is not available yet. The integration is planned for that version, with no confirmed availability date. You can join the waiting list.

Can I Make 360 Videos If I Shoot Nikon?

Yes. 360 video does not use the DSLR: it records with a phone or tablet mounted on the platform, or with a GoPro, and it works today on iPhone, iPad and Android, with music, the event overlay and delivery by QR code.

What Camera Do I Need for an iPad Photo Booth?

The iPad photo connection uses compatible Canon EOS cameras by cable. Being part of the EOS family does not by itself confirm compatibility: send us the exact camera model, iPad and adapters before subscribing.
